Solar Training & Education

We have teamed up with the non profit Northwest Solar Group to offer classes on solar power for those that want to learn more about clean, renewable solar power. Currently two courses are offered: a "Solar Basics" course for community groups and a "Solar Technical" course for people wanting to improve their technical skills.

Solar Basics for the Community

Sun's Eye Power teaches courses on "Solar Basics" for community groups and individuals. This course is designed for home or business owner's who want to learn about how solar works. The course can be tailored to meet a particular groups needs. Eight hours of classroom instruction and hands-on training is provided. We can work with your community group to hold a class in your area. Next class, please see "Events" page.

Topics Include:

  1. How to assess my site for solar power.
  2. How do solar panels work and how do you know which ones are best for my situation?
  3. What other components are needed for a complete solar systems and how do they fit together.
  4. What is required by code and the electrical utilities to connect my solar system to the electric power grid?
  5. How do I know how much solar I need? How do I analyze my electrical loads? Can I meet all of my electrical needs with solar?
  6. How much does it cost?
  7. What is an Inverter and how do I know which one I need?
  8. What is a charge controller and do I need one?
  9. How do you install the components and wire them together?
  10. What incentives/tax breaks are available for photovoltaic systems?

Solar Technical Training

Sun's Eye Power trains electricians and other construction workers on how to install systems. This course is primarily designed to improve technical skills for people working in the industry or wanting to develop a solar component to an existing set of skills. A minimal working knowledge of electricity and wiring is necessary to enroll in this course. Next class, please see "Events" page.
